Juanita Scarlata of Bridgeport dies at age 78

Juanita Scarlata (nee Rubalcaba), a long-time resident of the Bridgeport community, died on Sept. 24 after a lengthy illness. She was 78 years old.

Mrs. Scarlata was the wife of Roy, a retired Chicago Police Department (CPD) officer; mother of Cynthia (Larry) Berry; Gregory Ramirez, retired CPD, Mario (Kari) and Vincent (Marianne) Scarlata; grandmother of 12; great-grandmother of one; and the sister of Refugia “Cuca” (the late Nick) Stathos, Amelia “Bea” (the late Lawrence) Cortez, Esther (the late John) Romano, Peter (Flena), Timothy (Gayanne), Theresa, Gene (the late Ken Barbeau), and the late John, Vicenta (the late Joseph) Aguilera and Frank Rubalcaba.

Services were held at the Dalcamo Funeral Home. A Funeral Mass was said at All Saints-St. Anthony Church. Interment is at St. Mary Cemetery in Evergreen Park, IL. Memorial gifts can be made to the Myositis Association at www.myositis.org.
