St. Barbara’s Parish preschool underwent a $30,000 renovation recently. The project was partially funded by two of the school’s patrons, Tim and Sue Sullivan.

During the renovation, preschool space was expanded three-fold. New windows were installed to provide better ventilation and the south end of the building was tuckpointed. The room is adjacent to the full-sized gym. Children have physical education at least two days per week and have access to an enclosed garden for outdoor play.

The children in the program learn through experience and exploration. Thematic units of study incorporate key concepts and skills, early literacy, art, music, and movement.

Heather Garrett, an early childhood specialist, is the preschool teacher.
