Blame the Republicans
April 2, 2010

Dear Editor:

All my governmental representatives are Democrats, but blame Republicans for failure of government. E.g. Alderman Danny Solis, Mayor Richard Daley, in Chicago. Robert Steele and (Sales Tax) Todd Stroger at the County and in Springfield Annazette Collins, Rickey Hendon and Governor Pat Quinn. In Washington, Danny Davis is in the House; Richard Durbin and Roland Burris are the Senate, all Democrats.

We cannot blame the Republicans for the fact that City of Chicago is bankrupt, even after selling off the Chicago Skyway, working to sell off Midway Airport, and selling off the parking meter revenue for 75 years. The County has the highest sales tax in the nation.

The [John H. Stroger] County Hospital is struggling, while the Chicago Tribune reports boxes of Medicaid bills in the basement waiting to be processed. The State treasury is empty and the legislature authorized the issuance of bonds to pay operating expenses.

Now Illinois is planning to tax Social Security payments. The legislature is equipped with 69 Democrats and 48 Republicans.

We the people of Chicago, Cook County, and Illinois need to wakeup and put some stops on our government officials. What we have is simply not working. We need more of a balance in government.

All Republicans over an extended period will result in other problems. The citizens of Chicago, Cook County and Illinois need to be reminded; there is no free lunch. All of the people voting for what is best for themselves in the short run will be ruin for everyone
in the long run.
