The Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) and Pepsi Beverages Co., a division of PepsiCo, have denied rumors that the CTA will acquire the site of a Pepsi bottling plant at 1400 W. 35th St.

Word had been circulating in the community that the CTA would acquire the plant to use as a bus barn to replace the one recently closed on Archer Ave. At 103 years old, the Archer garage was one of the oldest in the CTA system.

“No, there is no truth to that rumor,” said Wanda Taylor, CTA media relations spokesperson. Pepsi provided the same response.

“Pepsi Beverages Company has communicated no such announcement and does not comment on speculation or rumors,” said Kristin Hinck, Pepsi spokesperson.
