Joan Fox, first grade teacher at St. Malachy Grade School, recently won a box of school supplies from Office Max worth $1,000 as part of the company’s annual A Day Made Better program.

Office Max Inc. and its retail customers together donated $1 million in classroom supplies to teachers nationwide as part of the event, which encourages support for teachers.

During A Day Made Better, Office Max associates surprise 1,000 teachers in their classrooms with $1,000 worth of school supplies each. The program provides important economic relief: Office Max estimates teachers typically spend $1,000 of their own money to provide supplies for their classrooms. A Day Made Better awards help offset these costs.

The company chose Fox because she has taught in Chicago for 47 years, often donating her own money to provide classroom supplies. She said she still “looks forward to coming to teach children each day.”

St. Malachy is located at 2252 W. Washington Blvd. For more information, call (312) 733-2252 or go to www.stmalachychicago.com.
