Alderman George Cardenas (12th Ward) on April 22 threw out the first pitch starting the season for the Omega Delta Baseball League at Hoyne Park, 3417 S. Hamilton Ave. The same day, Cardenas hosted one of the largest Earth Day Clean and Greens on the South Side. WINTER, REDMOND HONORED
Children of Peace Roman Catholic School recently honored Phyllis Winter and Arlene Redmond for their contributions to the Archdiocese of Chicago’s only K-8 school for children who are deaf or hard of hearing. Winter was the program’s first teacher. Redmond joined the school as a teacher in 1979 and went on to become program supervisor. Donations to the Winter/Redmond Scholarship Fund are welcome.
