No parking signs are removed on Madison Street
November 2, 2018

Workers have removed no parking signs on Madison Street from Halsted Street to Ashland Avenue.

“The removal of the signs came on the heels of a 2016 Metropolitan Planning Council area parking study commissioned by the West Central Association,” said Rod Burch, executive director, WCA.

The study recommended taking down the no parking signs along Madison Street at the request of the street’s business owners. The signs did now allow any parking on the north side of the street from 4 to 6 p.m. and on the south side from 7 to 9 a.m.

Aldermen Daniel Solis (25th Ward) and Walter Burnett (27th Ward) and the Chicago Department of Transportation made the decision to remove the signs.

“The aldermen and CDOT heard the concerns of the business community and helped make these positive changes possible,” Burch said.
