Runners will compete in the Bank of America Chicago Marathon on Sunday, Oct. 13.

The marathon will take runners through 29 Chicago neighborhoods.

The race will welcome more than 40,000 runners from all 50 states and more than 100 countries, including elite runners, regional runners, debut marathoners, and charity runners, who obtain sponsors and will raise money for various causes.

“We are proud of the field we have assembled,” said executive race director Carey Pinkowski. “We anticipate inspiring races all around.”

The marathon will start and finish in Grant Park; it begins at 7:30 a.m. Officials expect more than 1.6 million spectators will line the course. The event generates an estimated $338 million in economic impact for Chicago and is a member marathon of Abbott World Marathon Majors.

Before the race, McCormick Place Convention Center will host a two-day Health and Fitness Expo on Friday and Saturday, Oct. 11 and 12.
