Incumbent Democratic State’s Attorney Anita Alvarez’s term has not been without controversy. She has received criticism from the Innocence Project for moving slowly on utilizing on new DNA evidence that the organization believes could exonerate several incarcerated men.

Incumbent Democratic Clerk of the Circuit Court Dorothy Brown has increased revenues by more than $350 million through increased allowance of credit card payments, new collection strategies, and cost-saving procedures. She has pushed the Illinois Supreme Court for expansion of e-filing of
cases.

The Recorder of Deeds office maintains public records related to real estate, deeds, mortgages, and liens.


Vote “No” on Amendment #49

State legislators have put Constitutional Amendment #49 on the ballot, which would require a 3/5 majority vote of a legislative body to increase pension benefits for public employees but only a simple majority to reduce them.
